I want to highlight @Movember today. For obvious reasons. Yes. But for some not so obvious. The brand, its collaborators and a big high 5 for its’ achievements so far!
‘During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.’ Movember.com.
This year its global and I for one (although very female) think it is bloomin fantastic that mens health is getting some brilliant press. Through the simple action of men growing a tash, they are able to raise money for necessary causes, start a foundation and support cancer research. The hairy powers that be work their little tooshes off in that office and this year some large brands, yet again have got involved, including Gillette, HP Sauce and even Marshall (They make things sound loud).
I think its worth, from a marketing point of view, checking out what these guys are doing and how they and their sponsors are using social media to keep it real! Movember is a brilliant brand. Fact. On many levels. Its also hugely social. You can check out how @contagiousmag are promoting Movember this year via the link below. Marshall are giving away a custom made Class5 Amp and HP Sauce are a brilliant example of great social media all year round and the lesser obvious brand associates (or not!) are giving away luxury gift packs!
