Fire Energy: From Ego to Inner Authority.

August brings heat. Not the summer sunshine kind, but the kind that rises in the body when we want to be seen.

Metox Monthly Practice: August 2026

This month’s Metox Monthly Practice is called Fire Energy: From Ego to Inner Authority.

Let's learn how to use our fire wisely.

Fire is life force. It is passion, courage, desire, creativity, confidence, leadership, warmth, expression, pleasure and movement. It is the part of us that wants to live, create, speak, act, be seen and take up space.

But it needs direction. When it is unconscious, it can turn into pride, defensiveness, comparison, control, impatience, drama, attention-seeking, or the need to be right. When it is suppressed, it can become resentment, self-doubt, bitterness, procrastination, fear of being seen, or the feeling that your own light is too much for the room.

August asks us to look at both with awareness. Because the ego is not the enemy. It's the part of us that wants identity, protection, recognition and place. It wants to know who we are, where we belong, and whether we matter.

When the ego is wounded and ignored, it hides or grabs for attention. When it is integrated, it becomes confidence, self-respect, creative expression and inner authority.

Mmmmmmm

This practice is not about getting rid of the ego. It is about putting it in the right seat.

Use the ego as a tool, not a throne.

As usual, I focus on 4 themes to bring this lesson through. Your fire is sacred fuel. Use it where it matters.

Leo season brings confidence wherever you are on the planet. If it's summer for you, you will no doubt be feeling the creativity, identity and self-expression. But if you are in winter - ask yourself - are you ready to be seen with more honesty?

By the end of this practice, you will have explored:

  • Where you feel most alive

  • Where you are afraid of being seen

  • What your ego tries to protect you from

  • Where you confuse confidence with performance

  • Where you confuse humility with hiding

  • What your anger or frustration wants you to notice

  • Where your energy is being wasted

  • What kind of visibility feels honest now

The question for the month is:

"Where in my life am I ready to use my fire with more wisdom, courage and responsibility?"

The Importance of Self-Reflection

Self-reflection is a vital tool in our journey. It allows us to pause and examine our thoughts and feelings. By doing so, we can gain clarity on our current situation. This clarity can guide us toward more intentional decisions.

In moments of reflection, we can ask ourselves deeper questions. What do I truly want? What values guide my life? These questions can help us realign with our true selves.
