WHO ARE BIG BOSS MAN?

If you’re a fan of a hip hammond with flavours of 60’s and 70’s drenched R’n’B, Funk, Latin, Jazz, Soul and Pop (and you haven’t been hiding under your scooter for the last 1o years) then you will be more than aware of these guys. Now on their fourth album release (not counting their numerous compilations such as; Soulshaker, Blow Up Series) their collective mighty talents were uncovered when the album ‘Humanize‘ (Blow Up 2001) went on to be used exclusively as the soundtrack for the 2002 BAFTA nominated short film ‘Sweet’ featuring The Mighty Boosh.

‘Party 7’ from Humanize was also featured in the Thierry Henry and Eric Cantona Nike World Cup worldwide advert in 2006 and was subsequently released as a limited single. Their 2005 follow up ‘Winner‘ (Blow Up) was produced by the band and Morgan Nicholls (The Streets / Muse / Gorillaz).

Their remix of Paul Weller’s (The Bottle) put them firmly on the map and their dancefloor favourite ‘Sea Groove‘ was used by the Red Cross for a nationwide campaign in the USA. The original 7″ version of Sea Groove is now valued at and being sold for £25 in the official Record Collector guide – although you’d be hard pushed to find one!
