5 Things To Remember At the End of Your Blog Year:

The end of the year is nigh and I it’s time to evaluate your blog. Ahem. Well, its not just about writing one is it?  It’s vital to know how it’s doing, and work out a few stats. It’s a necessity and for a number of reasons; to assess where you sit among competitors and to not make the same mistakes you made last year and also to improve.  So don’t shy away from it.  Face those fears and get a true evaluation of what your blog is doing.

So, if you are blogging for your business as part of your marketing strategy, you need to take a look at the number of unique visitors and the number of conversions. By conversions, I mean, how many people clicked through on your call to action, or took some form of action from reading your blog. Most of us use Google Analytics but don’t forget you also need to consider the following:

  1. Where does the traffic come from?

  2. How many conversions from a search engine?

  3. Have you written consistently?

  4. How many key influencers have sent traffic your way?

  5. Have you been consistent with your blog promotion?

If your conversions are low, you haven’t been tracking them enough and/or you have to look at the call to action you are using. For example; Are you giving something away? Offering a discount? A download? etc. Perhaps you should have re-evaluate that offer if it’s not performing as well as you’d hoped? Perhaps you don’t even have an offer? – Ahem.

Get one! And think about what you are offering really carefully. Look at your competitors and fill in the gaps.

Now, If your numbers have gone up, BRAVO!

But look at where these new customers/followers are coming from and engage with them regularly. If someone (blog/site) has had something to do with getting you those new followers, buy them a bottle to say thank you and keep it up!

So the 5 things to remember are:

  1. Track

  2. Re-evaluate

  3. Change

  4. Engage

  5. Reward

Good Luck!
